An overbite is when the upper teeth overlap the lower teeth when the patient bites their teeth together. When the patient closes their teeth together, the lower jaw is pushed back towards the patient’s ears, which reduces the size of the airway. Breathing is more difficult when a patient’s jaw is recessed back from an overbite which makes the size of the airway a little smaller.

Deep Bite Problems and Treatment Options

Some patients get headaches, clench, and grind more, have TMJ pain and small looking chins. An overbite can cause breathing problems and speech problems. As we age, the bite gets worse, and the problems worsen until the patient is forced to correct the overbite. The traditional deep bite correction methods are highly invasive and can take years and end up with disappointing results. Our non-invasive method is revolutionary because it is fast, almost painless, requires no surgery or braces, is low risk, and delivers stunning cosmetic results.

Gums, Bite, Health, and Aesthetic Problems with a 120% Severe Overbite

Deep Bite Problems - Jaw pushed back limiting tongue space

With a 120% Deep Overbite, this patient’s upper front teeth overlap his bottom teeth so much that his bottom teeth are touching the gums behind his front teeth. He has a very deep bite that is impacting his health causing stress and tension along with misaligned jaws.

Can Overbite Problems Be Treated with Cosmetic Dentistry?

This patient’s upper teeth are slanted back, and his lower jaw closes too far, reducing tongue space and the size of his airway. Cosmetic dentistry is typically just porcelain veneers on the top front teeth, and this kind of treatment has no functional value. If he saw a cosmetic dentist for veneers, he would still have a posterior open bite and a deep anterior overbite. Smile type of dentistry usually harms your health when the cosmetic dentist cuts down your teeth with a dental drill. The reason our method is so revolutionary is that it uses high tech solutions to solve a physical problem without being destructive to the teeth.

Can Braces Correct a Deep Bite?

Sometimes, but we doubt if braces can deliver results such as these. For treatment with braces to achieve results similar to these would take several years with questionable stability. With VENLAY® Restorations, the teeth are stable right where they are. With braces, the teeth tend to relapse. This patient refused to wear braces at this stage of his life and got this result of a non-invasive correction in about a month.

Quick, Effective Treatment with VENLAY® Restorations

This treatment was done completely non-invasively, without shots, without anesthesia, without jaw surgery or braces. His jaw is now in the right position for his facial structure.

How Can VENLAY® Bite Restoration Fix Deep Bites?

VENLAY® bite restoration solves overbite problems by three-dimensionally positioning the lower jaw with JawTrac®. JawTrac® is the jaw position part of the treatment, and it is a quick and painless process that our patients enjoy. Our patients get to experience the new jaw position before we work on their teeth. This is a significant advantage over other methods. VENLAY® Bite Restoration solves the deep bite problem by moving the lower jaw forward, which opens up the airway. It also reverses the effects of the aging process and helps the patient have normal body functions like sleeping, eating, speaking, and relaxing. Our male patients have a more masculine chiseled chin, and our female patients have improved facial proportions.

Deep Bite Jaw Surgery and Braces Alternative

Jaw Surgery for Deep Bites Alternative - Before and After

Arguably the fastest and most efficient way to correct an overbite with results that will beat any other method. In the before photo, his upper teeth overlap his lower teeth so much that his lower teeth are touching the gums behind his upper front teeth, and his molars are not touching at all making eating a more difficult task.

Does an Overbite Effect the Shape of Your Face?

Yes, when a patient has an overbite, the face has a round shape, and the lower 1/3 of the face is shorter and out of proportion with the rest of the face. JawTrac® holds the secret to moving his jaw to make his chin look larger and the shape of his face to be in balance proportionally. The greatest advantage is the level of self-confidence with his new physicality.

As with this patient, the lower jaw is pushed back because the lower teeth contact the back of the upper front teeth when he closes his teeth together during sleep, chewing and athletically. The overbite causes the shape of the face to be too short, his upper lip is in front of his lower lip and he will age prematurely if the overbite is not corrected. Patients with deep bites age faster and have grumpy faces because they have lost the facial support that the ideal jaw position can provide.

Don't Let a Deep Bite Spoil Your Facial Profile

His jawline is improved along with the shape of his face. He can breath better and patients usually sleep better because the airway is larger and there is more room for his tongue.

How do VENLAY® Restorations Work?

Braces move the teeth but have limitations in how far the teeth can be moved. It takes a lot of time for braces to work. VENLAY® Restorations work by adding to the shapes and sizes of the teeth to get the jaw in the right position. Instead of moving the teeth with braces with questionable results, we improve the sizes and shapes of the teeth with VENLAY® Restorations that are bonded over the teeth using a high tech bonding method. If traditional bonding is used, the results will usually be very disappointing. Most cases are completed in about a month, and VENLAY® Restorations can provide bite correction benefits that are not possible with braces and do it by preserving all of your healthy tooth enamel.

What is VENLAY®?

It is a high tech porcelain restoration that is individually handmade and designed by the inventor of the restoration, Dr. Sam Muslin. Patients eat, floss and brush normally as they are “super bonded” to your teeth and become part of your untouched healthy teeth. Your teeth get a new protective porcelain layer over the outside and over the biting surface that makes them whiter and much less sensitive to temperature. A VENLAY® is a porcelain restoration that is custom designed for every tooth and every bite and jaw position using JawTrac®.

Cost Estimate

Every single patient we see is totally different. Each individual requires individualized custom designed porcelain, jaw position expertise and years of experience to provide this method. The Face Lift Dentistry® method is far more complex than regular dentistry and orthodontic treatment, so our patients are getting the value that improves their appearance and function everywhere they go with every patient they meet. Please refer to What Is the Cost of Face Lift Dentistry® on our FAQ page for cost estimates.

Done in a Month

Our patients can get their life improved in about one month. They fly in for a consultation and if they choose to do so, they start the “work up” and JawTrac® testing. Some are so excited, they stay a few days longer and begin the treatment and return 3 weeks later to finish. There is no recovery time and you will be treated by the Master of the Face Lift Dentistry® Method. It is only available in Santa Monica California. As one of our patients recently said, “It was way easier to get on a plane than to make a mistake with another cosmetic dentist.”
