Jaw popping can be painful, and it also can be loud when chewing so people near you can hear it. It can be triggered and usually caused by a bad bite that forces your jaw into a position that does not match up with the normal function of the jaw joints.

Clicking and Popping Jaw Joints

Jaw joints don’t click and pop if the bite position allows the lower jaw to fit in the socket of the skull in a normal position. This is called TMD, or temporomandibular dysfunction, such as clicking, popping, and painful jaw joints, which are signs that there is damage to the joint. The solution for this problem with the Face Lift Dentistry® method is to get the lower jaw in a comfortable position (called the JawTrac® jaw position) and test that position to prove that the jaw joints can function normally. Dr. Muslin’s experience has been that the clicking and popping jaw joints can heal themselves if there has not been too much damage to the jaw joints at the time of treatment.

Jaw clicking and popping, TMJ pain on both sides, occasional lockjaw, a deep overbite, recessive jawline, weak facial profile, a short round-shaped face, and small teeth were all corrected simultaneously without drilling down your teeth, without a shot or anesthetic, no drugs, no surgery, no aligners, no recovery time and it was done in just two multi-day visits.

How to Treat Jaw Pain, Lockjaw, and a Small Chin at the Same Time?

The three main parts of the TMJ are the lower jaw, the jaw joint socket in the skull with a disc called a meniscus that fits between the lower jaw and the socket of the skull. The meniscus is what is clicking and popping because the bite is not functioning in harmony with both jaw joints. The facial profile is weak because the lower jaw is forced into a recessive jaw position that causes the chin to look small. Face Lift Dentistry® corrects the recessive jaw position, improves the facial profile, the same chin looks larger, the jaw pain, the clicking, and popping can be stopped or reduced because the overbite gets corrected and optimized with VENLAY® restorations. We are using the word optimized with bite correction because the JawTrac® jaw position is designed to optimize the jaw position rather than just correct something. This method of pain relief is experienced by the patient before any work is done to the teeth. The Face Lift Dentistry® method is designed to treat pain, clicking, and popping, small chins, recessive jawlines, small teeth, bad bites and reverse the impact of aging at the source simultaneously!

Can JawTrac® Treat a Recessive Chin or Clicking Jaws by Itself?

No. JawTrac® is a very important part of the Face Lift Dentistry® method because it can prove to the patient that the treatment to the teeth for an overbite, underbite, open bite, and misaligned jaw correction can be successful. Our patients experience pain relief first, and then we begin the process of giving our patients the bite that their body was always meant to have but never experienced by using the non-invasive VENLAY® bite restorations.

The JawTrac® Jaw Position

Patient treated for clicking and popping of misaligned TMJ jaw joint

This patient saw the shape of his new face, jawline, and facial profile and got pain relief with JawTrac® before we worked on his teeth

Once our patients get pain relief, we need to create VENLAY® restorations to correct the overbite and to be able to hold the new JawTrac® jaw position as the jaw position for the optimized bite without drilling down his healthy teeth. Cosmetic dentists in Beverly Hills and Los Angeles usually drill away your healthy teeth for porcelain veneers and or for full mouth reconstructions. Dr. Muslin will non-invasively redesign every tooth in the patient's mouth to build a bite that functions in harmony with the TMJ without the risks of jaw surgery, without sacrificing the health of your teeth with porcelain crowns, and without drilling down your healthy teeth to little pegs. Welcome to the Face Lift Dentistry® method, as it can change your life very quickly.

Does Dr. Sam Muslin Design the Venlay® Restorations?

Yes, in fact, he designs the new bite, the sizes, angles, and cusp position of every single VENLAY® restoration for every single patient himself. Bite optimization is far more advanced than cosmetic dentistry with porcelain veneers and a better smile because we don't just optimize smiles, we optimize the entire face. All of Dr. Muslin's patients get her personal design and the use of his own articulators so there is a high level of precision for every one of his patients. He also inspects and perfects the porcelain every step of the way with the head ceramist because he optimizes your jawline, face, profile, TMJ, bite and smile to a level that veneers don't match!

No Shots, No Drilling, No Pain, and Done in about a Month!

This patient had all 28 teeth treated with a bonded VENLAY® bite restoration without even needing a shot. No shots, no drilling down healthy teeth, which Dr. Muslin says is no longer necessary. We are living decades longer than ever before, and drilling down healthy teeth is not a good idea long term. Can Cosmetic Dentists in Beverly Hills and Los Angeles rebuild a bite, relieve pain, stop clicking and popping jaws, optimize an overbite, correct a recessive chin, provide an incredible smile, and improve the jawline that impacts the entire face without even needing a shot? We have not heard one of them claim that they have done it.

Treating the TMJ with Other Methods

There are methods to treat TMJ such as using orthotics, night guards, muscle-relaxing drugs, jaw surgery, Arthrocentesis, injected solutions, trigger point injections, neuromuscular dentistry, surgically moving the disc or meniscus, and prescribing pain medications. The Face Lift Dentistry® is the #1 non-invasive method that is the future of improving your health, with enormous cosmetic benefits.

How to Treat Misaligned Jaws without Surgery

Dr. Sam Muslin has been treating TMJ/TMD problems with his bite correction method by optimizing the jaw position with the jaw joints. His experience has been that the TMJ tends to heal itself or at least be less painful once the jaw position, the bite, and the TMJ are aligned. This method identifies the most comfortable jaw position quickly and painlessly and then builds the bite by bonding Dr. Sam Muslin's VENLAY® bite restorations that he designs and perfects on his equipment. When patients fly in from all over the world, it is vital to get it right the first time, which is why he designs the teeth, re-evaluates his design after the new bite is created in wax, then he evaluates the porcelain VENLAY® bite restorations before the final glaze to finish his creation to perfection.
