It’s New Year’s Eve! Have you made your resolutions yet? Most of us will make plans to be healthier next year (while we’re gorging on tasty food and drink the last two weeks of this one), and taking steps toward personal happiness is a grand goal too. You can do it, and these tips and ideas will get you started.
If you don’t already have a solid brushing and flossing schedule, make that a priority. Remember oral health is directly linked to general health, so if your mouth isn’t healthy, neither are you. Cutting back on or quitting cigarettes and alcohol will decrease your risk oral disease and cancers. Purchase four toothbrushes at the beginning of the year and label them so you know when to change them out (every three months).
If your idea of cooking is reading directions on a box, try learning to make something from scratch. Start out with one dish and master it, and buy your ingredients fresh from a local source like the farmer’s market if you can. When you learn to cook, you begin to appreciate where your food comes from, and that can lead to healthier living.
My resolution is the same every year – be healthy, and have fun! Get out your bucket list and make some plans.
