Pregnancy is a big event, leaving a woman with a lot on her mind. Dental hygiene probably rates pretty low on the list, and that’s unfortunate because there is less calcium in the teeth during pregnancy, leaving them vulnerable to decay.
A visit to the dentist early on is recommended, especially if x-rays are needed. Brush after every meal, and after snacks too. If brushing after each meal isn’t an option, at least rinse with mouthwash or water to reduce bacteria. Avoid sweets and acidic foods, and use dental aids (picks, floss, and mouthwash) every day.
