Oil pulling is an ancient practice, and many swear by its use. Supposed benefits include whitened teeth, improved oral health, healthy skin, cleared sinuses, and headache relief.
All you need to do is swish some pure natural oil in your mouth like mouthwash for 20 minutes. The oil removes plaque and bacteria, and may also kill and remove fungi and viruses. Coconut oil is recommended for its pleasant taste.
I’m curious, but skeptical. Why haven’t dental professionals written about this? Also the idea of swishing fat around in my mouth for almost a half hour does not sound like a fun time, especially since the oil supposedly gets thicker and turns white as it mixes with saliva – yummy.
I think I’ll stick to mouthwash for a fresh, clean smile in a much shorter period of time.
