There are so many recommendations to remember between your doctor, you dentist, and literally every other aspect of your life from health to hobbies, but ignoring them, especially when it comes to your kids, can be a big risk. Kids in America are not getting recommended preventative care at anywhere near the rate they ought to. One statistic that is especially disconcerting is that in 2009 over half of children and young adults skipped going to the dentist, while those that did didn’t get the fluoride treatments and/or sealants designed to keep their teeth healthy. The reasons for this are many, but the predominant reason was lack of insurance coverage. Most of these statistics were taken before implementation of the Affordable Care Act, when many middle and low income earning families had either no access or limited access to insurance. Even still, under the plan most parents don’t know that these preventative treatments are, in fact, fully covered with no co-pays or deductibles, the CDC says.
Whether or not you agree with the Affordable Care Act, right now is the time when all kids ought to be able to get the preventative care they need to insure a more healthy future. Follow the link below for more shocking details-
