Going to the dentist can be expensive, especially if you find you need work done and don’t have very good, or any insurance (and I have a feeling it’s that fear that prevents many people from making a yearly appointment). Still, that’s no reason to take out your frustrations on the dentist who’s trying to help you.
In this article, Dr. Donald Murray III recalls a comment made by a patient in reference to the cost he was quoted: “The crown is going to be HOW MUCH?! I might as well just hand it to him in cash to pay for his nice car.”
Dr. Murray goes on to say how that money goes toward the purchase of high tech equipment and well-trained staff, not his pocket.
Yes, dental health care can be expensive. Yes, there should be more programs in place to help people who can’t afford it. No, it’s not the dentist’s fault.
