Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers can close small gaps between the teeth. However, they will not cover the space left by a missing tooth. Dental implants have all the benefits of a porcelain veneer's outward appearance, but they are used specifically for the replacement of a tooth. Dental implants can be a ideal option for replacement of an entire tooth. They have the surface sheen of a porcelain veneer; however, they have the ability to close a much larger space. Porcelain veneers and dental implants may be used in tandem to fix a patient's smile. Porcelain veneers may be desired to change the color of a single tooth or a group of teeth.

If the problem tooth appears very dark, a wise choice would be to perform tooth whitening treatments in preparation for when the porcelain veneers are applied. Porcelain veneers are created from glass-like material that is partially translucent, much as with natural tooth surfaces; since light goes through the surface and bounces off the opaque material below it, porcelain veneers can give patients a glowing smile. Dental implants and porcelain veneers are two treatment options cosmetic dentists have for repairing nearly any smile; however, dental implants can only be considered for the most extreme cases such as missing teeth.
