Bite Reconstruction and The Dental Face Lift ®

Dental Drama: Gum Disease
Before we can treat the teeth or work on bite reconstruction we need to ensure that the patient has healthy gums. Vance has had years of dental neglect resulting in a continuous but painless infectious process known as periodontal disease or gum disease. Gum disease is generally painless and the infection spreads into the gums and to the jaw bone. Periodontal disease is a slow moving infection which is the reason that there is generally no pain. Many patients wait until a great deal of permanent damage is done to their jaw bone before treatment. Gum disease is totally preventable with proper home care by the patient.
Periodontal Disease and Heart Disease
Vance has infected gums (gum disease) that does not hurt and is negatively affecting his over all health. The gum disease or periodontal disease has spread to his jaw bone and the entire process can also contribute to heart disease and other organ infections. Gum Disease effects the health of the entire body.
Non Surgical Gum Treatment
Treatment using ultrasonic scalers, hand scalers and sonic scalers along with dental lasers can successfully treat most gum infections and save or prolong the life of the patients teeth. The new high tech gums disease medications as periostat (doxyclcline), arestin (minocycline hydrochloride), periochip (chlorhexidine in solid state which slowly melts over one week for a continuous bacterial kill) and Chlorhexidine mouth rinses are very effective in knocking down the gum disease infection, preparing the gums for the dental work and bite reconstruction.
The Crest Spin Pro tooth brush combined with a waterpik are very effective in cleaning and rinsing away the harmful bacteria present in gum disease.
Mouth Reconstruction by Dr. Sam Muslin

Tooth Clenching and Tooth Grinding
The patient had permanently damaged his bite causing malocclusion from years of tooth bruxism and his facial support was collapsing. As a busy business owner, the patient did not take the time to treat his dental health and was in need of a complete bite reconstruction and even more advanced care, the Dental Face Lift ®.
Replacing Porcelain Crowns
The patient had bad porcelain crowns with black lines at the gums. The old porcelain crowns looked fake and were decaying under the margins of the crowns. Replacing old porcelain crowns is necessary in order to remove the decay and stop the gum disease around the crowns. Replacing Porcelain crowns is also necessary as the older crowns can be made from non-precious metals that can be harmful to your health. They can contain toxic metals that can be harmful to the body so replacing porcelain crowns or replacing gold crowns is very important for the health of the patient.
Replacing Amalgam Fillings
Vance wanted treatment to be "efficient" which translated to "fast." His all of his upper teeth were treated in one visit. All of the old crowns were removed; all of the old amalgam filling and old composite fillings were removed along with all tooth decay. Temporary crowns were placed and until the Procera Crowns, Empress crowns, Da Vinci Crowns, Mac Dental Crowns, and any other type of crown necessary for his individual condition were fabricated by Dr. Muslin's ceramist.
Natural Looking Porcelain Crowns in two weeks
Dr. Muslin's office concentrates on delivering comprehensive care for an entire arch in only two visits. The speed and efficiency of the dental team and organization of the dental lab technician allows this office to deliver the finest care at an amazing rate. Most patients find the care to be much less traumatic if the dentist and his staff are quick and organized. Two weeks later the new porcelain crowns and porcelain veneers were bonded into place. This is not average cosmetic dentistry as Vance went one step farther. Vance said, "if we are going to do it, let's go all the way." Cosmetic Dentistry is only part of his treatment.
Facial Collapse and Deep Overbite
The Dental Face Lift ® is based on bite reconstruction to lengthen the face. Vance now has a bite that is the best height for his personal characteristics. The overall impact of bite reconstruction is far greater than cosmetic dentistry traditionally can offer. Deep overbites can be completely corrected in only 2 weeks per arch. The customized bite reconstruction treatment offers optimal facial support and customized to every patient characteristic.
