Renetta, Downey CA - Face Lift Dentistry ®

Jaw Repositioning and the TMJ (Tempromandibular Joint)

Renetta displays the classic signs of facial collapse due to years of wear and tear on her teeth. Renetta’s malocclusion (bad bite) has changed her facial profile; this is a common problem for people with natural teeth (even after braces), for those wearing dentures, fixed dental bridges or removable dental bridges. The bite determines the facial features of a patient, so the teeth must be coordinated with the TMJ to establish a proper bite. Renetta is a perfect candidate for the Dental Face Lift ®. The complete dental rehabilitation of this patient's malocclusion improved her facial profile. She drove from Downey to reach Santa Monica for her cosmetic dentistry.

Remarkable Face Lift Dentistry ® by Dr. Sam Muslin

Face Lift Dentistry ®

Poor fitting Dentures on the upper and lower arches can change a person's face. This is because the lips, facial profile, speech, neck and overall posture are all affected by how your teeth fit together. Face Lift Dentistry ® can correct a bad bite by coordinating the teeth with the TMJ to provide maximum health, comfort, and appearance. The best thing about Face Lift Dentistry ® is that no surgery is necessary.

Dentures Wear Down and Natural Teeth Wear Down Too

As the teeth wear down on a denture (or when natural teeth wear down), our faces are negatively impacted. Renetta was trying to adapt to a bite that was too low and caused her jaw to be positioned forward. Renetta’s dentures wore down and she was able to adapted to her deep over-bite, but dealt with constant discomfort. The key to successful Face Lift Dentistry ® is restoring a natural bite.

Not All Dentists Are The Same

Renetta was not aware that her teeth could be as comfortable as they are now because she never had great dental care. She did not know that there is a huge difference in the skill level of general dentists, just as there is a huge difference in skill level of specialists, professional athletes, writers or politicians.

Implant Dentures vs. Denture Adhesives

Dental Implants stabilize upper and lower dentures. When a denture is attached to an implant, it adds mechanical retention superior to denture adhesives such as Fixodent, PoliGrip, Miracle Grip, Cushion Grip and Sea-Bond. Dental Implants keep the dentures stable, add chewing power and preserve the jawbone for a tight denture fit.

How Long Does Face Lift Dentistry ® Take?

Treatment to reconstruct her upper and lower dentures took only one month. The patient had to begin the process of accommodating to her new bite and did so very rapidly, considering she had worn her old dentures for far too many years. Specialized denture materials were used to "heat process" the dentures with veined acrylic colored to match the skin tone of the patient. Renetta tells us that her dentures look as great as they feel.
