Sedation Dentistry

What you Need to Know about Sedation Dentistry
Sedation Dentistry is for patients that have:
- a high fear of dental care
- high anxiety of dental care
- are not afraid but would rather be relaxed during the dental care
- have a gag reflex and cannot tolerate dental care in the traditional setting
- are phobic about dental care and will not get it done without medication
- There are no needles involved in this type of sedation
How Is Sedation Dentistry Done?
With one little pill taken one hour before your dental appointment. With just one pill, you are totally relaxed and very comfortable having your dentistry done. You don't gag anymore. The whole process becomes very tolerable. We can give a another pill but most of the time more medication is not necessary.
Even the most difficult patients can be comfortably treated in our relax atmosphere treatment rooms. Dr. Sam Muslin's office has TV sets mounted in the ceilings for our patients to watch. We have a lot of the cable channels for you to choose from. Our patients have found the ability to watch TV during their care is a huge advantage.
Is Sedation Dentistry Safe?
Yes, in fact in many situations, it is safer to be sedated because you don't move around so much. Sedated patients have their blood pressure monitored and the blood oxygen level is read through your finger nail with a tiny light beam.
The monitoring is painless.
With the high tech monitoring equipment, Dr. Sam Muslin can be sure that your treatment is completely safe. He has been monitoring many of his patients that are not sedated as an extra level of safety for patients that should be monitored.
