Crossbites and other types of bad bites can negatively impact the entire face because the jaws are not aligned properly. The teeth are crossed over each other, causing uneven wear and a skewed jawline. When a patient has irregular wear on their teeth, it places abnormal stress on the jaw, resulting in a lopsided jaw and asymmetrical face that contributes to muscle tension, TMJ pain, and headaches. Another major factor is premature aging and facial collapse that begins at about age 35 and worsens with age.

Crossbites Cause Misaligned Jaws and Misaligned Faces

The Impact of a Crossbite on the Face

This is a classic example of a crossbite that impacts the shape of the jawline and entire face. Every person’s bite impacts the shape of their face, their ability to sleep, chew, TMJ issues, and self-confidence.

Fixing a Crossbite: JawTrac® Testing First

Face Lift Dentistry® - The latest and greatest method for crossbite, underbite, overbite, and open bite correction. It uses JawTrac® Technology to locate the optimized jaw position for each person’s existing bone structure. Once Dr. Sam Muslin quickly and painlessly locates the optimized jaw position for you, he first tests this position before anything else is done.

How is JawTrac® Technology Tested?

The science of creating the removable JawTrac® tester that allows the patient's lower jaw to "optimize" its position does not require force, pushing, manipulating, or surgery. It takes Dr. Sam Muslin about an hour to make it for his patients to wear JawTrac®. Our patients get to walk out of the office with their new jaw position and wear it during the evening and even sleep with it that first night. Most of them say after the first 15 minutes that "this jaw position feels better already." When our patients feel physically better, we know that we are on the right path.

How Does Face Lift Dentistry® Improve the Shape of Your Face?

The secret to having the most ideal shape to your face is to have the ideal jaw position that coordinates with your bone structure of your skull and mandible. Face Lift Dentistry® improves the shape of your face by locating the JawTrac® jaw position and holding that position with VENLAY® bite restorations using the Face Lift Dentistry® method.

How Do Dr. Muslin's Patients Keep the JawTrac® Jaw Position?

It is necessary to build the optimized bite to maintain the new optimized position of your lower jaw. Building the bite to support the shape of your new face and jawline requires VENLAY® Bite Restorations bonded to your healthy teeth to make that natural position a reality. The shapes of your teeth and the color is dramatically improved and you can have a smile that is wider than veneers.

How do VENLAY® Restorations Work without Surgically Cutting the Jaw?

You cannot predict how the jaw will heal, and you cannot know what you will look like after the jaw surgery. With VENLAY® bite restorations, you will get to see your new face, the new shape and color to the teeth before they are bonded to your teeth. Instead of surgically cutting your jaws, Dr. Muslin's exclusive Face Lift Dentistry® improves the shapes and sizes of your teeth by bonding the new "VENLAY® Protective Layer" right over the natural tooth's surfaces.

How Long Does Face Lift Dentistry® Last?

VENLAY® bite restorations last longer than veneers because of the bonding strength. Veneers are bonded to the inside of your teeth after the dentist drilled the outside enamel away. VENLAY® restorations are bonded to your natural healthy enamel, which is a much stronger bond. The beauty of the Face Lift Dentistry® method is that it is faster to get, far safer to receive, and much more predictable because it can be tested when other methods can't.

How Long does Jaw Surgery and Braces Last?

The reason that jaw surgery and braces don't last as long as we would like is that those procedures may never reach the "optimized jaw position" for the patient. Their bite was improved, but they still experience TMJ pain, Jaw Pain, misaligned jaws, bite relapse after all of that pain, sinking jawlines, and faces that age too fast. Teeth are not permanent as they wear, discolor, move or shift, relapse from braces or aligners, and jaw surgery.

How Long Does It Take to Get Venlay® Restorations?

It only takes about two four-day visits separated by three weeks. It is literally a miracle cure for just about every bad bite as a crossbite, misaligned jaw, and it also improves facial profiles.

What is a Crossbite?

It is impossible to get results like this with clear aligners, jaw surgery, or braces in about a month. Think about getting the jawline, bite, and facial proportions you were always meant to have and never experienced.

Crossbites are a challenging malocclusion, and almost every dentist will tell you that jaw surgery and braces are the only choices. Crossbites also cause misaligned jaws because the upper teeth fit inside lower teeth. It can involve front teeth (anterior), or back teeth (posterior), or both. Most of our patients with crossbites have already had failed braces and functional orthodontics with palatal expanders, braces, and clear aligners, and others had jaw surgery that did not work as well as they had hoped. Many of these patients experience excessive gum recession because the teeth were pushed too far.

Crossbites with overlapping teeth occur with both underbites and overbites, and both types of bites can be treated safely and effectively in about a month with this method, without even needing a shot. This is truly one of the most remarkable advancements in dentistry today.

Jawlines, Faces, Profiles, and Self-Confidence Matters

Her local dentist in Arizona had no idea how to treat her malocclusion. This mother of two flew in from Arizona to Santa Monica to get this level of treatment that nobody else offers.

Old School Treatment Methods

Orthodontics - The orthodontic approach with braces, brackets, and wires or aligners with expanders can be an effective method, but it can take a very long time and still not work. We see patients that have worn braces for eight consecutive years that only aggrevated the problem.

Jaw Surgery - The surgical approach is to cut the jaws and change the shape of the jaw in order to align the teeth surgically, but there are big risks to this very painful approach, and it is combined with braces and or aligners. The outcome is not predictable. Patients often have a second round of surgery and even then may still not work.

Money-Wasting Methods include clear aligners or making the teeth straight with veneers or crowns, which are really cosmetic camouflage with little or no health benefits. Drilling down your healthy teeth compromises the natural integrity of the tooth structure.
